Who is Ms. Aubry?

Who is Ms. Aubry?

Hello! My name is Ms. Allison Aubry and I am currently a grades 5-12 visual arts teacher in an urban public school in Boston, Massachusetts. I have been teaching art for the past 5 years in the cities of Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and most recently, Boston. This year I was rewarded the leadership position of being the Department of Fine Arts chair and have been able to be an instructional leader and coach for my fellow teammates of art, music, drama, PE and health teachers. I have a fairly popular instagram page "MsAubry_Art" where I have been promoting my lesson plans, curriculum ideas, examples of best classroom management and teacher practices and wanted to have a space to share my lesson plans, urban education ideas, special education accommodations, as well as a space to collaborate with fellow teachers.

Aside from being an art teacher, I am also very interested in fitness and living my best and most healthy lifestyle. I find as a teacher it is definitely hard to balance healthy eating and work out habits and learning how to de-stress from a challenging day in education. This past year I have finally found a way to balance my love for fitness and working out, with creating healthy lunches and snacks that I bring to work, and juggle everything else along with it. I love to be outdoors, try different activities, and to travel.

Speaking of travel, this past summer I traveled to Beijing and Shanghai, China while also visiting a bunch of small cities and towns in between. I learned so much about culture, art, history, politics, and how to overcome language barriers and so much more. Each summer, I try to make the most of the time off we have and travel the United States and other parts of the world.

Something my Boston students love about me is that I am from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and a huge Philly sports team fan. I truly LOVE and follow all sports teams from Philadelphia. Aside from professional sports teams, I went to Penn State University for my undergraduate degree and I am also obsessed with everything Penn State. Most recently, I got my Masters of Arts degree from Boston University.

I hope this was enough quick facts about myself and I hope you enjoy my blog and my lesson plans and ideas.
